About us

We are a national Interprofessional based in Valencia, representing the entire Spanish citrus sector through associations representing the production and marketing sectors, integrating the value chain of oranges and mandarins.

Intercitrus provides a stable framework for sector representatives to work together and serves as a forum for decision-making on key aspects of the sector

History

We were the first Interprofessional established in Spain in 1993 and officially recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food as an Agri-Food Interprofessional Organization, as published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on December 2, 1998, under the law regulating Interprofessionals (Law 38/94).

Throughout our trajectory, Intercitrus has undertaken numerous actions for the benefit of the sector, supporting research projects, coordinating exports to third countries, and conducting promotional campaigns. From 1998 to 2008, we carried out consecutive advertising campaigns, promoting oranges and clementines worldwide for ten years.

Mission and functions

Sectoral representation

At Intercitrus, we advocate for the interests of the citrus sector by acting as liaisons with the European, national, and regional administrations. Additionally, we represent the sector by participating in relevant and current events and activities.

Campaign analysis

Throughout the citrus campaigns, we hold regular meetings to analyse the progress from the perspectives of different sector components (producers, cooperatives, and commerce) in order to provide comprehensive campaign monitoring and analysis.

Plant health defense

We defend the sector's interests in the field of plant health by monitoring pest evolution, interceptions, and alerts for pesticide residues. We also advocate for the application of specific protocols, such as cold treatment for citrus from countries where Thaumatotibia Leucotreta is present.

Research projects

At Intercitrus, we conduct research projects in collaboration with universities on topics of interest and relevance to the sector.
